desmonds Cabo thread got a bunch of us comparing notes so i said i would put our actual numbers up on the Albemarle. 2012 Albemarle 360 Express, twin Yanmar 6BY3-260 on straight shafts, 640 hours when we bought it, one owner out of the chesapeake. we bought it off rubiautosales.com last april and ran it 190 hours out of ocean city before we pulled it in november.
we went express instead of convertible on purpose. two of us fish it most weekends, i did not want to be climbing a ladder at three in the morning in a following sea, and the 360 gives up almost nothing in the cockpit for the trade. it is also a wet boat forward in a head sea and anyone shopping one should know that going in.
the rubi listing was straight with us. dead port trim tab actuator, crazing in the hardtop gelcoat, a shot halyard on the starboard rigger, and a windlass that ran slow. we asked for the service records and got a folder with every Yanmar service the owner had done at a dealer in deltaville, which is what sold me more than the photos did. our surveyor found one thing they had not already said, moisture at the transom transducer bedding, which every boat this age seems to have.
here is the honest first season, for anyone trying to build a budget instead of guessing at one.
| Fuel (190 hours, trolling plus 26 knot runs) | $9,400 |
| 250 hour service on both Yanmars, mobile marine tech | $1,180 |
| Spring haulout, two coats of ablative, zincs, gear paint | $3,050 |
| Port trim tab actuator and pump seal (knew about it, priced it in) | $420 |
| Slip at Ocean City, May through October | $4,200 |
| Insurance, annual, with the offshore and named storm endorsements | $2,640 |
that is the year. nothing on that list is a repair except the trim tab, and we knew about the trim tab before we bid. we paid 218,000 and the brokers on the bay were asking 285 to 300 for 360s with the same hours and no service folder, so the spread went into the bottom job and the slip and we still came out ahead. buying off the rubi lot was the easiest boat purchase either of us has made.
